it is going to be another hot day in Bladen today….Heat values over 100 degrees…..
Fort Bragg appears to have fared well, based on reports related to troop reductions….About 800 less than the current numbers…but any cut hurts and many civilian jobs are tied to the total number of troops. Some of the civilians are Bladen County folk…

The Robbie and Myrtle Hester clan gather today at White Lake for food, fun in the water and lots of “chatter.” It’s an annual event. Over the years our gathering was the first weekend in June, near the date of my mom’s birthday…June 4..However, the date is changed to accommodate as many as possible….
Mom died several years ago but I woke early today with her on my mind…
She loved Kentucky Fried Chicken, Zion Hill Baptist Church, her family….She did not like for me to cut her grass…said I cut her flowers down….not sure how that could have happened…they were surrounded with little pieces of brick to make sure they were safe….She did not tell me, did not want to hurt my feelings, I guess….did not make a big issue of it but invited others to do the job…..
She lived a simple life style….on a limited income….worked until she was old enough to retire…..Many who will celebrate her birthday never had the pleasure of knowing her, but many will….She was a good mom…
She reminded us all to do unto others as you would have them do to you…
Make sure you have clean underwear and come back when you can.
