Filing deadline is approaching for municipal elections and there are some ballot’s with less than a full slate…See our article on who has filed and who has not filed for the November election. The deadline for filing is noontime (12 noon) Friday.A couple of former little leaguers who allowed me to be one of their coaches many years ago are in the news…Both good news….Timmy Sessoms recently retired from the Town of White Lake and Kim Cain will be heading south for the third year in a row with a group of talented youngsters. They won the NC Dixie Pre-Majors baseball championship last night, a 5-2 win over Duplin County. Next stop….Guntersville, Alabama for the World Series…and their opponent will be the Alabama state champs.
Now the kicker, we (you and me) need to step up….$’s are needed to send these youngsters on their way. We will provide the information about how they will be raising money. Best way is to get your checkbook out and write a ‘healthy” check….We will have an address over the next day or so…as well as other efforts to raise the cash….
This has been one hot summer….Not many days with highs less than 90 degrees.
Remember when there were very few who had air conditioning at home or in their auto? Some still have no way to stay cool….lest we forget.
