As we approach the middle of August, temps are lower, high school fall sports practice will soon turn to real competition and time for another school year..Today, West Bladen’s football team will participate in a multi-team scrimmage at Green Sea/Floyds SC beginning at 6 p.m. and tomorrow, the Knights will travel to Red Springs for a 4 p.m. scrimmage.
East Bladen will participate in the 2nd Annual CarolinaPreps.Com Coastal Clash at South Brunswick High School on Wednesday. The Eagles scrimmage North Brunswick from 6:45 to 7:35 p.m. and New Hanover from 7:40 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Another couple of notes. Kyle Tatum (EB) has been selected as a pre-season All State by NC Preps…The Eagles are ranked #12 in at least one preseason poll in the 2A ranks…..moving on to basketball, DJ Mason (former WB) is having a good preseason in Belgium. He is a rising senior at Campbell University. The Camels have scored two victories in Belgium, then last night flew to Dublin, Ireland for two more games to complete their European tour, according to John Clark.
While we are on the topic of sports, a reminder that all teams need an official and former WB Macon Hammond has been busy officiating summer sports. He is headed back to North Carolina Wesleyan College and more baseball.
