Thoughts While ShavingIt has been a newsy few days in Bladen County…Airplane crash, termination of Tax Administrator, $20 million loan approved for the construction of a new Detention Center and Sheriff’s Department….

Speaking of construction…..the US 701-NC 87 bypass construction is moving forward…..and is expected to continue for another couple of years…..

Schools are likely to see fairly drastic changes over the next year or so….4700 students attending 12 or 13 schools is unreasonable…. Lots of work to be done…Huge county with a population of only about 35,000….many students in private & charter schools, many being home schooled and others attending religious based schools….forces another look at how the public schools are doing business…

Schools are being challenged….state mandates and funds being cut….example, Drivers Ed… Oh, sorry, we really do not know….the budget that should have been approved by June 30 is still being debated….and school begins next week….

BladenOnline continues to cover the county….and there is more to be done….Our numbers continue to amaze me….Thanks to our readers and advertisers…..

Little warm yesterday but not bad….Fall arrives September 23.

Speaking of weather…a warning from the National Weather Service….Scattered and slow-moving heavy rain showers and isolated thunderstorms will carry the potential to produce localized flooding in areas caught beneath torrential rainfall…for today and Wednesday….30% chance today and 60% tomorrow…

If you rest you rust.

There is no conversation more boring than the one where everyone agrees.

I just got back from a pleasure trip. I drove my wife to the airport.

Nostalgia is a device that removes the ruts and potholes from Memory Lane.
