Thoughts While ShavingDo you remember where you were on September 11, 2001? The day terrorists caused great pain to our great nation…. 14 years ago…..The Paul R. Brown Leadership Academy will hold a short 9-11 Remembrance ceremony at 8:30 a.m. today on the steps of the academy, on Martin Luther King Drive in Elizabethtown.

Tomorrow, (Saturday) Bladen Central High School Alumni Association will hold their 33rd Annual Awards Banquet at the Paul R. Brown Building. Dr. Teresa McKoy Watts will be the speaker. Dr. Watts is a 1985 East Bladen High School graduate, and is in private practice in Charlotte. The banquet begins at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $20….Contact Dorothy McKoy for details. The Annual Fun Day celebration will be held at Bladenboro Historical Building, on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. and continues through 3 p.m. Check our Events section for more info.

In fact, there are many activities this weekend….Bladen County 4-H Teen Court at the Cooperative Extension office, The Dublin Peanut Festival Scholarship Pageant at Dublin School, A special program at the Park Visitor Center at Jones Lake beginning at 10 a.m…..All are listed with more info on our Events page…

Tonight, St. Pauls football team will be at West Bladen for a 7:30 p.m. football game…East Bladen has an open date….

And, it was a year ago today that my walking buddy of 27 years was involved in a 2 vehicle accident near Bladen Community College. Janice Johnson was critically injured…She is still bed-ridden, a patient in the extended care unit at the hospital in Burgaw. Need an uplifting experience….visit Janice…I visit from time to time and come away amazed….She will make your day better…says she will come home and I believe her.
