Bladen County is losing a good public servant. Was a little disappointed that Cris Harrelson announced his resignation Monday, as Bladen County Human Services Director. Brunswick County announced later he had been hired in a similar position….He served Bladen well. Not difficult to understand the move….In Bladen, the salary range for the Health Director is $59,628 – $75,529. In Brunswick the range is $87,419 – $113,646.
Harrelson, a Bladen County native….has 20 years experience…..Another example of a poor, rural county losing good help because of low pay….Salary may not be the only reason….but can’t overlook the difference. We wish him the best….
Bladen County’s population is 35,000. Brunswick’s is 115,300. Brunswick tax value is listed as $25 billion, Bladen is $2.6 billion….
My favorite day of the week is Thursday….get-together with siblings tonight…..and all six will hopefully be present tonight….
