Today is the final day to file for political offices, for the March 15 primary.  Locally, Board of Education and Board of Commissioner seats for the next 4 years to be determined.  There are other positions to be decided as well.  The filing deadline is 12 noon today.

Well, well…if you have waited to the last minute to do your Christmas shopping, time is drawing near, and to make shopping more interesting, rain is in the forecast over the next few days.

I enjoyed a cantata Sunday and the day was capped off with a children’s program.  Actually, brought back memories of a youngster…mmm many years ago at Zion Hill Baptist Church near Bladenboro.  I was so afraid I would not remember my 3 or 4…(maybe more)…lines in the play.  Bottom line, I do not remember the lines….but I remember the occasion.  It left a lasting impression.

Ever think you need a pad and pencil bedside to capture the answer to opportunities you may be facing.  Don’t know about you, I think I have the answer to whatever the problem, by the time I exit the bed, can’t remember what the solution was……Maybe you do have the pen and paper nearby, or have a better memory.

How about the Carolina Panthers?  Still undefeated despite a ‘not so good’ final half of play Sunday.  It took a last second field goal to secure the victory.  They are 14-0 with 2 regular season games remaining. Another game against the Atlanta Falcons and the Tampa Buccaneers remain on the schedule.

As long as we know in our hearts what Christmas ought to be, Christmas is.  Eric Sevareid
