Thoughts While Shaving

East Bladen 62 – Farmville 42.  What a game?  Ethan Hines and the Eagles won a hard fought game.  It was tied early in the first half, but East Bladen never trailed in the NCHSAA playoff game.  Hines rushed for nearly 300 yards and scored 5 times.  #3 East Bladen (8-4) travels to #2 Ayden-Grifton (9-3) next Friday night.  John Clark has the story on our sports page.

Other area winners, in no special order:

Fairmont, South Columbus, Whiteville, Clinton, Lakewood, Union, Midway and Wallace Rose-Hill.

Another beautiful day in Bladen.  The weather should be perfect with lots of sunshine and temps in the mid 70s.  A tough day to justify watching sports on TV.

One more reminder of the Bladenboro Bulldog class of ’56 reunion a week from today at Village Station in Lumberton, beginning at 11:30 AM.  Call 648-4455 for details.

Thanksgiving is special to our family.  Looking forward to seeing as many as possible.

Bladen County Commissioners meet Monday, 6:30 PM for regular business meeting, the last meeting for 4 commissioners departing the scene.  Replacements will be sworn in Monday, December 5.

I was sworn in as a County Commissioner, December 1974, 42 years ago, an eager 36 year old.  One big difference then compared to now, board members respected one another, did not agree on everything, but disagreed respectfully.

Rather than trying to find the right person, try being the right person.

Respect cannot be learned, purchased or acquired – it can only be earned.

Say what you mean, mean what you say, but don’t say it mean.
