Thoughts While Shaving

Thoughts While ShavingIf you have been praying for very cold weather….your prayers have been answered….

New record low as of 5 a.m.….a bone chilling 13 degrees…our previous low was 19…High today is not expected to reach the freezing mark…actually in the 28 degree range, about the same as yesterday…

Hang on, better days are just ahead…High Saturday is expected to reach 48 and 66 on Sunday….It’s February folks…a usual windy March is just 8 days away….

Another day to stay inside…missed my walk this a.m…..more concerned about ‘black ice’ than the temps…Oh well…we will be OK, I think…

‘Cooped up’ inside allows to much time to think…

Most pleasant surprise over the past 12 months…Sylvan Heights Bird Park near Scotland Neck…Worth the trip…

I am looking for any appliance, personal item, vehicle, whatever, with an off – on switch…I pay for so many extras that are never used….The dash board on my auto has “wiggly” looking things…In the same place could be ‘heat’ or ‘cold’ or ‘defrost’.   Same on computers and the appliances like washing machine, range, etc…

I have mentioned this before but thought about it again this morning…Ever heard of Capudine…Produced in the early 1900’s in a small brown bottle with a cork.  Collectibles today…An empty bottle is worth $15.99 according to ad on Amazon…One of my grand dads used Capudine, lots of Capudine… No idea what it was used for…but for years, little brown bottles covered the landscape around his home…but no more…I do have a couple but they are not for sale…That is about all I have to remind me of a grand dad who died much to soon. He was in his 40’s when he died in the 1940’s..

Wesley Chapel ‘youth of days gone by’ are celebrating a reunion this weekend…Most are now in the 35 to 50+ years old…Many will be performing Saturday night at the church…Tickets are still available…Call Wesley’s Chapel UMC (645-4011). or pick up tickets at Corner Cafe or contact Chris Adams….local architect…probably other locations but cannot remember…

I remember our sons participating…Rick performed Kenny Rogers ‘The Gambler’ and John, dressed up like Elvis and performed a couple of his songs…Brought the house down…..Unfortunately, neither will be able to attend….Promises to be fun…

High School basketball teams will know more about their tournament opposition after a Saturday announcement….We will keep you posted….on our sports page…

Money takes the sting out of being poor.

Men are like bank accounts.  Without a lot of money, they don’t generate much interest.

In just two days, tomorrow will be yesterday.
