Thoughts While Shaving

Thoughts While Shaving‘Baby, it’s Cold Outside’, remember that old tune?  It is cold outside.  As of 7:30 AM Sunday, January 8, our temp is a bone-chilling 18 degrees at the Curtis Brown Airport in Elizabethtown, the National Weather Service official local weather station.

Temps dropped to below freezing about 10:30 AM Saturday and have continued to drop.

Precipitation totals were not available from the airport, but at the Hester household about 3 or 4 miles west totaled about 2 tenths of an inch over the past 24 hours, bringing our total for the past couple of days to 1 inch, mostly rain, a brief snow shower and maybe some sleet, but very little.

Be aware of black ice, even in our driveway, an example of what you can see on roads in the area, but for the most part, roads appear to be in good shape.

Weather caused services at some churches to be cancelled, some are continuing as usual, call ahead.

So, what’s ahead?  High today near 30, sunny skies and winds out of the north at 9 to 14 mph, with gust in the 23 mph range.

Low tonight around 15.  Sunny tomorrow with a high near 36 with winds around 10 mph.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect.

Do not see any report of power outages in our area.

Remember the days when many relied on wood or coal to stay warm, and I realize some still do, but not many with a ‘trash’ heater.

Stay warm, remember, the situation is not expected to improve over the next couple of days.  Stay in, stay warm and best of luck.

Check on your neighbors and family.

Don’t knock the weather.  If it didn’t change once in a while, nine tenths of the people couldn’t start a conversation.
