For some high school basketball coaches and players, they will learn today, who their first opponent will be in the upcoming statewide basketball tournament. For some, the season is over.
Last night, the Clinton Dark Horses defeated East Bladen in the finals of the Four County High School boys basketball tournament played in Burgaw. Final score, Clinton 84, East Bladen 50. Eagles ran out of gas, according to Coach Kenzil McCall. Eagles season ends with 4-23 record.
East Bladen girls are hopeful of hosting one of the upcoming tournament games. West Bladen teams will be watching and waiting with great anticipation this afternoon.
Speaking of basketball, Yesterday I watched, again, 30-30 version of the 1983 NC Wolfpack’s championship game over Houston, coached by Jim Valvano. Wolfpack fans hope for a return soon….. Not this year.
I remember my first trip to White Lake. It was a trip with 4-H as a youngster. Mom and dad were so concerned, I am sure. Concerned that I could drown. Later as a parent, I understood their concern.
