Thoughts While ShavingThe recent fire in Raleigh was next door to the office I occupied for 25 years. Was in Raleigh yesterday for a meeting, drove by but all roads in the area were closed. Will be a while before the Albert Coats building will be occupied again, as well as the Quorum Center and other nearby structures.

We have had all types of weather over the past few months. A warm February, freezing temps in March, a hurricane with flooding late last year and a recent hailstorm, Looking forward to more normal weather, including more rain.

Saw a couple of articles recently about small towns struggling’. Centerville in Franklin County, founded in 1882, has seen their population drop to 89. 12 residents cast a ballot in the last election. Nearby, Fair Bluff is facing an uncertain future after retail businesses were flooded during Hurricane Mathew.

Anyone remember John Tomlin? He was our WBLA news man many years ago. He lives in Boston and has produced such TV shows as Inside Edition and more. His most recent effort is a documentary ‘This Old House’ for Public TV. Talented individual. He leaves no stone unturned. Had a local politician tell me he would pay his moving expenses if I would fire him. That would not happen. He left to continue his education in Boston.
