Thoughts While ShavingBladen We Care’s 28th Annual Byron Gooden Golf Tournament fund-raiser is underway at Vineyard Golf, White Lake today. Approximately 50 teams of 4 are participating with proceeds benefiting Bladen County residents who are ‘falling through the cracks in our healthcare system.’

If you do not play golf and cannot or do not plan to attend the upcoming Gala, donations are welcomed. Help support this worthy cause by sending donations to Bladen We Care, PO Box 1569, Elizabethtown, NC, 28337. The Gala is scheduled for Friday, May 5th at Lu Mil Vineyards. Tickets are moving quickly, but there are a few remaining. Call 910-874-4001 or 910-876-2322, for more info.

And, along the same lines, a reminder of the Golf Tournament Saturday for Southeast Carolina Crossroads at Land-O-Lakes Golf Course beginning at 1 PM. Proceeds benefit males of all ages who are addicted to drugs and alcohol. One other issue related to Southeastern Carolina Crossroads. Financial donations are welcomed as are ‘new or slightly used’ clothing items for males. Some come with all the clothing and supplies needed, some come with all their belongs in a small bag, some come with nothing. Those seeking help come as they are. A reminder of the Bladen County Board of Education’s Community Forum meetings that address the proposed consolidation situation. Your attendance and comments are welcomed for these important meetings scheduled throughout the county. It’s your opportunity to have input on this important issue. Not all will be happy regardless of the final decision, but your voice will be heard.

US Vice President’s primary job appears to be, to lead the applause for whatever the President says. Always been that way.
