Thoughts While ShavingHappy Mothers Day to all Mothers.

Woke up this AM thinking about Mother’s Day over the years.

As a youngster, remember that the day began by going to Zion Hill Baptist Church, north of Bladenboro, followed by a trip to Grandpa and Grandma Hesters’ (Kingsbury and Mary) followed by a trip to see Grandma Cain (Helen Anders Cain). Grandpa Marshall Cain died at an early age, think I must have been about 4 years old. Sometimes the order of the visits were reversed, but the visits were never in doubt.

Always a good meal and time to play with cousins, some who lived nearby and some we seldom saw, their visits was not certain, due to the travel involved.

Later, recall Mother’s Day visits to see Ms. Ruth Clark in Bluefield and my mom, Myrtle C. Hester near Bladenboro. Sometimes they visited us, but seldom, maybe never did we and our boys not see their granny on Mother’s Day. It has been a ritual.

Today, both of our sons will spend some time with their mother. Our grandchildren visited yesterday, and may return today, but they to are visiting their other granny.

Mother’s Day is special at our house.

Happy Mother’s Day to my bride (Sarah) of nearly 57 years. Visits by our children and grandchildren make it special.

Hope you can spend time today with your mom, if she is still living.
