Thoughts While ShavingReceived a nice note from Dr. Robert Taylor, Bladen County School Superintendent, expressing his appreciation for funds raised during the recent annual jail-a-thon. David Wall, local attorney, has been one of the leaders of the effort for many years.

We recorded nearly an inch and a half rainfall over the past few hours, had some high winds, in fact, the weather station at Curtis Brown airport recorded wind gust of 28, 22 & 17 MPH yesterday afternoon. Strong enough to down a tree or part of a tree in our backyard.

The NC House of Representatives approved their version of the state budget early this morning. The Senate approved a budget earlier, now, representatives will work together to work out differences. The final budget is expected to be a few bucks short of $23 billion.

How many political leaders have promised a balanced budget for the USA? Sadly, I do not believe either party will ever ‘get it done.’ When you check the numbers, the task is to great. To little income and to many expenditures, and many are mandated, social security, military, etc.

Google ‘US Debt Clock.org’, our debt as of 6 AM today was fast approaching $20 trillion. Largest budget items: Medicare/Medicaid; Social Security; Defense/War: Net interest on debt: Federal pensions and Income Security.

US Debt held by Foreign Countries: $6,043,617,000,000.
