Thoughts While ShavingI enjoy searching the web for any number of reasons, recently I typed in ‘Little Known Facts about Bladen County’, and one site that I discovered was produced by DATAUSA.  And, today, I am sharing some of what I discovered.

DATA is from 2015:

Bladen County, NC is the 67th largest county in North Carolina by population and contains 10 census places.  The largest places by population are Elizabethtown, Bladenboro and White Lake.

The median household income in Bladen County, NC was $30,096 in 2015, which represents a 1.91% growth from the previous year.  Additionally, there were 13,040 residents in Bladen County with jobs in 2015, which is a 1.12% growth from the previous year.

27.4% of the population of Bladen County, NC live below the poverty line, which is higher than the national average of 14.7%.

Primary Care   1 to 26
Dentist   1 to 35
Mental Health   1 to 55

The largest age group are youngsters ages 6-17, next largest group is 55-64.

Heart Disease and Pneumonia were the most common conditions:
(1) Pneumonia
(2) Congestive Heart Failure
(3) Acute Myocardial Infarction

21% of Bladen County residents are smokers.

As of 2015, 95.8% of the residents of Bladen County were US citizens, compared with 93% nationwide.

50% of veterans in Bladen County served in the Vietnam era.

In 2015, 50 men graduated from Bladen Community College, compared with 160 females.

The 2015 median property value in Bladen County, NC was $85,000, a slight decline from the previous year.

The average property tax bill was in the $800 range.

67.3% of Bladen residents own their home,  owned 2 vehicles per household, commuted 24.7 minutes to their worksite, and 83.7% drove alone.
