Thoughts While Shaving

Thoughts While ShavingThe deadline for filing for municipal offices is fast approaching and candidates are needed in at least 3 towns.

The latest filings were for Clarkton Town Commissioner.  Yesterday, Stephen W. Hester and Jerome Myers paid their $5 filing fee seeking a seat on the Board.  Incumbent Tim Tart filed earlier, incumbent Lawrence McDougald has not filed.  The deadline for adding names to the ballot is 12 noon Friday.

Bladenboro, Clarkton, Elizabethtown and White Lake have a full slate of candidates for positions available.  Different story for the other 3 local municipalities.

Incumbent Lillian L. Graham has filed for re-election, but 2 seats are available in East Arcadia.

No one has filed for one seat on Town Council in Dublin. and no candidates for Mayor or 3 seats on Town Council in Tar Heel.  All seats are for 4 years, except Tar Heel where terms are for 2 years.

If you reside in a municipality, not happy with decisions by leaders in your town, and you are not willing to invest $5 for the opportunity to serve, stop complaining.

Stop by the Bladen County Board of Elections, located behind the E-town Post Office and add your name to the ballot.

We recorded a little over an inch of rain at the Hester household over the past 48 hours.  Higher temps expected over the next few days.

A reminder of the Annual Meeting of the Bladen County Committee of 100 this evening at Cape Fear Vineyard and Winery, located in the Elizabethtown Industrial Park.  Need to have pre-registered.  Call 645-2417 for more info.
