Thoughts While ShavingMy memory is slipping, but do not recall as much destruction caused by natural disasters, at least in recent years, and more storms still active.  Thankfully, Maria appears to be tracking off shore, away from the coast of the US.

Our friends in Robeson County and Fair Bluff, still attempting to return to normal following Hurricane Mathew.  Governor Roy Cooper is scheduled to visit Fair Bluff today.

FEMA funds for our area have been placed on a temporary hold, as Fed officials deal with Texas, Louisiana, Florida and Puerto Rico recovery efforts.

Recently, President Trump referred to Kim Jong-un as “rocket man”, now North Korea’s foreign minister has referred to those comments as the “sound of a dog barking”.  Presidential talk??  Sounds like what I heard on middle school play grounds many, many years ago.

Municipal elections are just weeks away.  Bladenboro has 3 candidates for Mayor and 4 candidates for 3 seats on City Council.  Elizabethtown has 4 candidates for 3 seats on the town board and Clarkton has 5 seeking 2 seats for town commissioner and 2 candidates for Mayor in Dublin.

Tar Heel has 2 candidates for 3 seats on their governing board.  Write-ins will determine the outcome.

Rumors are begin to circulate related to candidates for county positions, including Sheriff, in 2018.  Filing begins early next year for county, state and national elections.

Stay tuned!!!!

Fall begins Friday (tomorrow).
