The Annual meeting of Four County EMC drew a record number of attendees last night, over 1,200 registered delegates. Total attendance was estimated to be over 2,500. The meeting was held at Pender High School near Burgaw. Delegates received good news, no rate increase in 2018, but that is likely to change in years to come. The cost of dealing with coal-ash, to the satisfaction of government regulators, is expected to rise and the cost must be passed on to member-owners. 4 Directors were re-elected. The Whisnants, a gospel singing group from Morganton, NC entertained and Victoria Huggins, Miss North Carolina, provided a great rendition of the national anthem. The primary coverage area of the electric coop includes Bladen, Duplin, Pender and Sampson counties.
My rain gauge indicates about an inch of rain over the past 3 or 4 days, despite showers throughout the day yesterday. The same type weather is expected thru Thursday night. Highs in the low to mid 80s and lows in the 70s, more summer like than fall.
