If you missed last nights East Bladen football game, and many did, (small crowd) you missed one like I have never seen. After about 30 seconds of play, East Bladen trailed Greene Central 8-7 and the race was on. East Bladen won big in front of a less than packed-house. Competition included numerous events, and the weather.
Eagles play at home next Friday night, the team deserves better support than last night. Stands should be full…..their opponent, old playoff nemeses Southwest Onslow, again. This time it’s a home game. John Clark has captured it all on our Sports page.
East Bladen (12-1) is a talented football team, with a smart young coach. And, with a break here or there, this season could be special.
Full disclosure, I left at half-time, but followed as best I could, on MaxPreps and listening to Mark and Franklin on the Whiteville broadcast. These old bones were cold. Whiteville lost, South Columbus won, Clinton lost.
Soccer players, moms and dads are in Gastonia today. Bladen County is fielding 10U boys and girls, 12U girls and 14U boys all star teams in statewide competition.
