Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

Thoughts While ShavingBladen County Commissioners have a “full plate”….preparing for hearing appeals from the recent revaluation as a Board of Equalization and Review, ongoing meetings related to the building of a new jail, work on a budget for fiscal 2015-16….plus the routine business that is “never ending.”

Yesterday was a wonderful break from the cold, wet, windy weather of February.  We apparently will have another ideal day today before temps begin to drop….

BladenOnline numbers continue to amaze me….Holding strong….Our daily goal is to provide the ‘news you can use’ about and for Bladen County by Bladen County residents….At this time last year, an election was upcoming, the beer and wine issue had many “stirred up.”  We don’t get it all…but a better job than anyone in the area….Our numbers say it all….We will continue to be out and about….and THANK YOU, THANK YOU for your continued support.  And if you would like your business included on our website….contact Charlotte Smith at 876-5393.  The Best Is Yet To Come…

Looking ahead is fun…we all do it…but looking back is fun as well….Remember when a loaf of Holsum bread was 19 cents?  Or a plug of Black Maria chewing tobacco….don’t remember the price…was not man enough to use it….or maybe I was man enough to not use it….

How about “roll your own cigarettes” using Prince Albert tobacco?   And a gallon of gas for 25 to 30 cents?  A long time ago…and to be honest the $1 an hour wage did not allow the purchase of  “a tank of gas.”

Ahhhh, the good old days???  Frankly, I enjoy today, yesteryear and looking forward to tomorrow….

The proposed solar energy project near DuPont will be one of the largest in the state when completed….Construction begins soon and should be completed by the end of 2015…It will be owned/operated by Duke Energy Progress….

OK, If I eat equal amounts of dark chocolate and white chocolate, is that a balanced diet?

If I never had a bad day, how would I know whether I was having a good day?

If money could talk, it would say goodbye..
