Thoughts While Shaving

To often we take good health for granted.  Continue prayers for Coach Robby Priest and Judge Ola Lewis and others dealing with health issues.

Cade Hancock recently participated in American Junior Golf Tournament in Florida and played a round with PGA Pro Ricky Fowler.  He raised over $25,000 for the event, the most ever by a participant, with half going to AJGT and the other $12,640 going to Operation Smile, in honor of his sister who was born with a cleft pallet.  After a dozen surgeries she is A-OK, a student at ECU.  Cade, a 16 year old Harrells student, also won a custom set of Taylor Made golf clubs valued at $5,000.  He described the event as a mind-blowing experience. He is the son of Jim and Polly Hancock of Elizabeththown.  His dream is to play golf at Wake Forest University, and see where it takes him later in life.  Check our Sports Page for more.

Had my dates mixed up recently related to the golf tournament fund-raiser sponsored by supporters of Sheriff Jim McVicker.  See ad on BladenOnline.  It’s this Saturday.  Team entry fee is $400.

Political activity will begin soon, with filing for political offices beginning in early 2018.

For years I have enjoyed political campaigns, but kinda turned off by the process.  So personal by so many, both parties.  No middle ground, all in or all out.  Happy we have those who want to serve, without candidates our system would be in trouble.

I admire adults who work with youngsters year-round but especially at Christmas time.

Christmas Day is less than 3 weeks away.  Hope you shop local, good for our economy.

Lu Mil light show is a must.

How come everything you buy will go on sale next week?  Erma Bombeck

People who say that money can’t buy happiness just don’t know where to shop.  Kathy Lette

People will buy anything that’s one to a customer.  Sinclair Lewis
