Thoughts While Shaving

Thoughts While ShavingHopefully, we have met our quota for very cold weather for this winter.  Today, many of us will begin to emerge from self-imposed hibernation, check the plumbing, and hopefully return to a more normal lifestyle.

The first week of January, for many, has been a tough test, but the coming week is expected to be much better.

Today’s high temperatures in the mid 40s, low tonight in the 30s and tomorrow, even better weather with highs expected in the 50s.

While many ‘hunkered down’, two lucky souls won over $500 million dollars each in the lottery, and the Carolina Panthers saw their season come to a close.  The stock market is off to a good 2018 beginning.  Students have, hopefully, enjoyed an extended holiday season.  We continue to lose dear friends and family as the dying process continues, while others recover from their illness.

So what’s new?

Still may want to check ahead before venturing out in sub-freezing temperatures and make sure the meeting is still on, or the place of business is open; by noontime, all should be back to normal.

Every now and then we need to be tested.

Won’t be long before winter 2018 will be a memory, fields will be prepared for the next crop, and the White Lake Water Festival will draw huge crowds.  Life is good despite a bump in the road, occasionally.

You can tell how big a person is by what it takes to discourage him.

The Will of God never takes you to where the Grace of God will not protect you.

A man’s own good breeding is the best security against other people’s ill manners.  Lord Chesterfield
