After a slow start to 2018, mostly due to the weather, all appears to be on go now.
Members and prospective members of Bladen County Educational Foundation, Inc., will hold their next monthly meeting Tuesday, January 16, 5:30 PM at the Bladen County Board of Ed Public Meeting room. Items on the agenda includes election of officers, discussion of the annual Jail-A-Thon scheduled for April. Current members and others interested in participating are encouraged to attend. Bladen County Law Enforcement Officer’s Association is sponsoring a concealed carry permit class, Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 8 AM to 5 PM. Cost is $80, includes all course material, a certificate of completion and a noon meal. Proceeds are used for their “Operation Santa” program. 25 children benefited during the past year. Filing for political offices begins in a few weeks. Think you can do the job of governing local, state or national offices better than those currently holding the position? File and run. Tell your story, how you plan to make government better….and not with the usual, gonna cut taxes, cut out this program or that. Let me remind you, state and federal laws determine more than many understand. Make sure you understand the scope of the office, pay your filing fees, tell your story and if receive the most votes, you help make the important decisions about the direction of this office or that. And, if you have all the answers and do not file, don’t complain, and shame on you for not filing. A reminder, other equals may have different ideas, and they are elected too.
