No school today due to the weather. Snow and rain in today’s forecast, partly sunny, with a 40% chance of rain today after 2 PM. Around midnight, a 60% chance of precipitation, snow and rain with little or no accumulation expected. (Check with the NWS for updates throughout the day).

With weather on the minds of many, the National Weather Service has posted the following about last year’s weather. “2017 was one of the warmest years in history across the eastern Carolinas with temperatures averaging two (2) degrees above normal. There was no extreme summer heat, instead far-above normal temperatures in January, February and April, supplemented by near normal temperatures the remainder of the year, was enough to push 2017’s average temperature to the second warmest on record in Wilmington and the eighth warmest in Florence, SC.”

And, speaking of records, BladenOnline posted a huge number Monday. 43,995 page views were recorded. Unfortunately, most of our news Monday was bad, 2 vehicular deaths and a couple of fires to local residences topped the headlines. But, BladenOnline posted the stories and inquiring minds were looking for local news.
