Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

Thoughts While ShavingLove 70+ degree temps in February.  Not worried about the lack of cold weather to kill the insects that could cause harm later. January’s cold temps should have taken care of that issue.

My mom had the cure for coughing and sniffles.  Castor Oil was the perfect remedy.  Mom said we needed a ‘good cleaning out.’  Last time I had the treatment was before I left home in the late 50s. The treatment has lasted a long time and none are planned. There is no Castor Oil in this Hester household.

Recently received an article from a long-time friend about hog killings and making lye soap?  It was an annual event when I was a youngster.  Never see that now, hogs hanging buy by their ‘hind’ legs, and lye soap being made in a wash pot.

So much for yesteryear!

East Bladen High School girls basketball team will host Midway girls at 6 PM today in the 2nd round of the 2018 NCHSAA play-offs.  Midway defeated the Eagles last year in the play-offs to end their season.

My life is the land, the dogs, the car, the motorcycle, the pond, the canoe, going to pick up mail.  It’s just a rural retreat that I enjoy.  Burt Shavitz

I think the extend to which I have any balance at all, any mental balance, is because of being a farm kid and being raised in those isolated rural areas.  James Earl Jones

I like calling Bladen County, North Carolina, home.
