I follow TV sports for entertainment. Yesterday, checking the low scores in the PGA tournament being played in Mexico, discovered Shubhankar Sharma was the leader after the first two rounds of play. Who is Sharma and where did he come from? Discovered he is from India, 21 years old, has 2 wins on the Asian tour, turned pro in 2013 at 16 years of age.
Also a NASCAR fan, via TV, no interest in driving many miles, pay an exorbitant admission price and take a chance of rain, hot sunshine or cold, windy weather. How about Ryan Blaney, a 24 year old High Point, NC native? He drives for Team Penske in a couple of series. He is on the pole for today’s Las Vegas Pennzoil 440-Jiffy Lube race with a qualifying speed of 191.489 MPH. What happened to the Pettys, the Waltrips, Jeff Gordon, Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards and other older NASCAR drivers? The youth movement continues.
And, the females are making a name for themselves. Read some place there were more US female gold winners in the recent Olympics than US males winners.
Next week the men’s ACC tournament and who will play in the NCAA March Madness tournament will be high the agenda of many. ACC men’s tournament play begins Tuesday, March 6 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. The NCAA selection process is scheduled for Sunday, March 11th with the finals set for San Antonio beginning March 31st.
In the meantime, women’s teams who have made the NCAA tournament will be revealed on Monday, March 12.
Ever get ‘turned off’ by ‘squabbling’ in the political arena, especially, state & national office-holders. Have heard for years local office holders are the most trusted of all elected officials. They face their constituents on a daily basis. Maybe it’s the people or maybe it’s the location.
