There have been characters in the ACC male coaching ranks for years, Bone McKinney (Wake Forest), Lefty Driesell (Maryland), Jim Valvano (NC State), Frank McGuire (UNC & USC) and no doubt, others will be added in years to come.
More names from the past, Everett Case (NC State), Dean Smith (UNC), Norm Sloan (NSCU), Cliff Ellis (Clemson), Terry Holland, former Virginia coach, and a Clinton, NC native.
And current coaches who are among the all time greats, Mike Krzyzewski (Duke) since 1980 and Roy Williams (UNC) for past 15 years or more. And, probably should also include Tony Bennett (Virginia) in that group.
I know, missed someone that should be mentioned, but so many great coaches.
As you can most likely see, my list targets the original ACC, 8 men’s teams from Maryland to South Carolina and Clemson, some in and out, depending on the year. North Carolina’s big four were always in, as I recall.
