Thoughts While Shaving

Thoughts While ShavingGreat weekend for sports!

NASCAR winner – Martin Truex, Jr.

PGA winner – Rory Mcllroy.  Tiger Wood stumbled on last 3 holes after a brilliant performance in his latest attempt to return to championship caliber play. And, Fairmont native William McGirt, who was 5 over par after 3 holes on the last day of play, recovered to finish one over for the day and picked up over $59,000 to push his earnings for the year to over $580,000, not bad for a former Golden Tornado baseball catcher. His earnings have exceeded a million $’s annually for the past several years.  He earned over $3 million in a single season a few years ago when he won the Jack Nicklaus Memorial Golf Tournament.

UNC Tar Heels men’s basketball team ended their season on a sour note, losing to Texas A&M, 86-65 in the NCAA Tournament.

Four ACC teams have reached the Sweet Sixteen.  Duke, Clemson, Florida State and Syracuse.  Interesting note, Duke, Clemson and Syracuse are all in the same bracket.

One more tournament note.  Remember the Martin twins who left the NC State Wolfpack team and joined Nevada?  Cody and Caleb combined for 33 points to lift their latest Wolfpack team to an overtime victory over Cincinnati, the team’s second overtime victory in the tournament.  Texas was their earlier victim.

Spring arrives Tuesday (tomorrow), but more cold weather is expected.  Temps are forecast to drop into the low 30s later this week.

Easter weekend less than 2 weeks away.
