Thoughts While Shaving

Thoughts While ShavingU.S. Congress is wrestling with approving a budget that was due October 1, 2017.  Need to UP the debt limit so we, can pay our bills, including national debt that is at an all-time high.

As of early this morning, Tuesday, March 19, 2017, our national debt was $21,035,907,990,250.  Recently topped that number, first time ever over $21 trillion.  Google US National Debt Clock, add it to your favorites.

According to info provided by the Congressional Budget Office, the U.S. population was 327,384,999 as of 4:30 AM today.  Our debt was $64,254 per person, and $173,548 per taxpayer.

Our federal spending is up 138%.  The web site has more info than you can imagine.

Another stat; Interest due per citizen $7,996.  The debt is broken down by topics, ex., Medicare/Medicaid, Social Security, Defense, Net interest per citizen, Federal Pensions.

I encourage all to Google the site today, ‘U.S. National Debt Clock’. Add it to your favorites.  Doesn’t matter if Republican, Democrat or Unaffiliated, conservative or liberal and despite all the promises, it (the debt) continues to increase.

State and local governments MUST balance their budgets, annually, but not our U.S. leaders.  And, didn’t just get there, but the increase in spending is higher than ever and increasing at a faster pace, despite what Congress and the President says.

Blame whoever you want to.  If hot air and promises would get the job done, it (the debt) would be much lower.  Am reminded of one of my more senior friends told me years ago, don’t tell me, show me.

Another friend told me years ago, when our political leaders get inside the beltline, be it Washington or Raleigh, common sense seems to slip away.

Blessed are the young for they shall inherit the national debt.  Herbert Hoover

I found this national debt doubled, wrapped in a big bow waiting for me as I stepped into the Oval Office.  Barack Obama

President Obama has almost doubled our national debt to more than $19 trillion, and growing. And yet, what do we have to show for it?  Our roads and bridges are falling apart, our airports are in Third World condition and forty-three million Americans are on food stamps.  Donald Trump
