Difficult to believe..but true…A year ago today our low temp was 26 degrees….I remembered as I was strolling around at the White Oak Ruritan Club’s Old Fashion Planters Day near Ammon yesterday….They work so hard and postponing is virtually impossible because of all the folks who bring items to show….Next week, they will likely be some other location.. It is a good project, would be nice if they could “catch” a break with the weather…
I know there are numerous special services at churches countywide, but a couple of extra special….A musical at Center Roads Baptist at 11 this morning and another special service at 7 this evening at Purdie United Methodist Church.
Following that theme, Bladen County library is having a Kid’s Easter Celebration Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Call to register your child at 862-6990.
Remember Easter from long, long ago….boil eggs and color them with crayons…When we finally discovered dye…We really had a nice time…at the Easter Egg Hunt…and my mom made sure all eggs were found…none were wasted…
And for some, maybe a new shirt mom made from a “feed bag” One of the biggest decisions to be made was the design of the feed bag….took the whole family going to Farmers Supply in Bladenboro to select just the right bag of hog feed….and it was important to all the male siblings…..All would eventually wear it and pass it down….By the time the last one wore it, it was so faded….difficult for folks to remember how it once looked……Today…a different world..
Bladen County lost another centurion early Saturday morning…Ms. Leola Pait of Bladenboro passed away…an example of the “salt of the earth”…Check our Obituary section….(Bladen Gaskins).
Diets are for those who are thick and tired of it.
A man who was attempting to walk around the world…drowned today.
Space isn’t remote at all. It’s only an hour’s drive away if your car could go straight up.
