Bladen We Care Gala/Dance tonight, 7-11 pm, at The Venue at White Lake. Blackwater Rhythm & Blues will provide the music. Proceeds benefit folks dealing with medical issues and limited resources.

Timothy Peters will chauffer a Ricky Benton racing team entry in the NASCAR cup series at Talladega Superspeedway next weekend (April 29). The Cerro Gordo based team recently made a strong showing in the truck series at Martinsville finishing 7th. Michael Hester of Bladenboro has been crew chief for the team over the years.
Road construction is ongoing everywhere it seems. Inconveniences now, hopefully make for better, safer roads in the days and years to come.
Speaking of roads, much of road construction is paid for by gasoline tax. The price of gas is moving up quickly. Crude prices have ranged from a low of $25 in 2016 to $140 in 2009. It is currently in the upper $60 range and experts expect the upward movement to continue.
