Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

Thoughts While ShavingBe careful….this is April Fool’s Day….

Yesterday tested the fabric of all associated with BladenOnline… Our technical service is hosted by GoDaddy.com and a server was “down.”  It happens, but we have been very fortunate over the past 7 years… On one occasion we were “down” for a couple of days…excruciatingly painful…but we survived.

What made yesterday more painful was we were so close to one of our all time monthly highs in visits and pages viewed on the last day of the month….We will see….Our previous highs have been associated with elections or events leading up to an election…with a single exception….This is still fun…and we think we are providing a service to all of Bladen County…That’s our goal.

Yesterday was a beautiful day…did get a little breezy in the afternoon….National Weather folks indicate winds up to 22 MPH.

A couple of reminders….An encore performance of the Elizabethtown Christian Academy’s variety show, “The World is Love,” will be presented this morning at 9:30 at The EBC Christian Activity Center.  Admission is free and the public is invited…and looking ahead to Friday…Good Friday…  The Bladen County Transfer Station will be closed, however all other collection centers in the county will be open.  Normal operations at the Transfer Station will resume Monday, April 6.

Check our Events section for other special services…in the area.   Easter is a special time of the year….

NCAA March Madness finals are also planned for this weekend….

Love sunny days with temps in the 70s.

I think back of Easters long ago….card classes for under 5 years of age… a few years ago…..

And a fleeting thought about the task facing County Commissioners….Board of Equalization and Review, adopt a new budget and most likely set a new, probably higher (?) tax rate, continue the business of building a mandated jail, work with the Board of Education to upgrade schools facilities…and respond to questions about all…

There may be no excuse for laziness, but I’m still looking.

Doing things that you are not supposed to do at work makes your vision, hearing and alertness much better.

Thieves had broken into my house and stolen everything except my soap, shower gel, towels and deodorant.  Dirty Devils…
