Thoughts While ShavingLots of activity in the area over the next few days, weeks and months.  Not sure if there is a complete list, but many we are aware of.

NC Department of Agriculture release on our news page updates info on this years blueberry crop, including sites where can pick or purchase Bladen’s #1 crop in the area.  NC is the 6th largest producer of blueberries in the USA and it’s the #1 crop locally valued at nearly $67 million in the state in 2016.  Most in this area are commercially produced and shipped across the nation. Local blueberries will be available late June & early July, according the NCDA release.

Strawberries are available now at many local locations.  Will not attempt to identify.

White Lake Water Festival set for this weekend.  Check our upcoming events page or Google for details.  It begins Thursday with the E-town Rotary Golf Tournament at The Vineyard Golf Course.  Activities continue Friday evening, Saturday morning, Miss North Carolina, Victoria Huggins will be the Grand Marshall at the annual parade that steps off at 10 AM.  Activities continue throughout the day and evening hours.

The 11th Bob Hester Reunion will be held Saturday, May 19th, 11 AM – 3 PM at the Bladenboro Historical Building.  Contact Herman Hester at 704-864-4871 or email hermanhester38@gmail.com for more info.

Moms and dads and youngsters are knee-deep in Dixie Youth action throughout the county.

An Opioid Forum will be held at Bladen Community College, Thursday, May 24, 6:30 PM.  Included will be Bladen County data, sure to surprise.  It is serious business, locals are dying.  Make plans to attend, all are welcome.
