The Sunset Jams Concert Series continues this evening at Goldston’s Beach, White Lake, featuring the Big Time Party Band. It’s free, thanks to many sponsors in the area, cooperating with the Elizabethtown-White Lake Chamber of Commerce.
Checked my rain gauge yesterday and discovered more rainfall at the Hester household than reported by the National Weather Service at the nearby, local airport. Had not checked since last Saturday morning. Since that time, recorded over 1.5 inches. Totals vary greatly when it is the result of summer storms. We are thankful for all. Some nearby areas have recorded much less.
Had the pleasure of attending Vacation Bible School festivities at Wesley’s Chapel UMC last evening. The participants were singing the books of the Bible (new testament). Brought back memories, I still remember doing the same over 70 years ago and how I used it over the years when searching scriptures. (Didn’t use as much as I should have) Can’t remember them now, but hope the youngsters do. Takes great leadership to make it all happen. An energetic group of youngsters and devoted adults.
Over the years, there has been big changes. Example, today we must have conditioning, not so then, used hand fans provided by the funeral home or some other local business. In cooler weather we roasted hotdogs and marshmallows over an open fire, outside of course.
