Thoughts While ShavingThe PGA golf tournament in Greensboro last week was exciting, so much on the line for so many.  Yesterday’s winner was Brandt Snedeker.   Regular season is over and playoffs begin with the top 125 seeded players participating the coming weekend, followed by a tournament consisting of the top 100, then top 70 and then 30 players for the Dell Technologies Championship where the winner will take home $10M.  Fairmont native William McGirt made the playoffs, despite an injury that will require surgery after his season is over.

Great article recently in the Washington Post about former President Jimmy Carter.  Still lives in Plains, Georgia, in the same house he occupied prior to his election to be president over 40 years ago.  He will be 94 in October, his bride is 91.  She still cooks and he cleans up.  Folks in the area say he is ‘tight as a tick’.  He still teaches Sunday School at his home church every Sunday he is in town. The cost of his upkeep is the least by a wide margin of any former president, according to federal information.  He has been a former president for 37 years.

What do you recall about his presidency?  Me??? Long lines at the gas pumps.

Former East Bladen athlete Sincere Smith still not getting a lot of playing time as a member of the New York Yankee west team in the Gulf Coast league.  The season will soon come to a close, not uncommon for many of the players to be asked to stay for a time as they continue to work on their skills.

East Bladen and West Bladen high school football season begins this weekend.

Bladen County Commissioners meet at 6:30 PM today.
