Emergency folks in Bladen County have been very busy, doing good, even halting rumors. A rumor began to spread that Lock and Dam 1 on the Cape Fear River had failed. Local Emergency Service folks and the U.S. Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District, stepped in and confirmed there was no failure. The issue was flood waters were going over the dike in Kelly and that was the reason for the mandatory evacuation issue. Kelly, like no other community in the county, has a dike system, been in place for many years to protect the area.
Will be nice when area residents can return to some degree of a normal lifestyle.
NCDOT released the longest list of impassable roads yesterday, in Bladen County, that I ever recall….very useful.
No idea when Bladen County Schools will return to a normal schedule. Road closures compound their issues.
Folks in the tree removal business are busy, had a few removed at the Hester household yesterday.
Time for all to give a little, love thy neighbor as thyself, straight out of the good book.
Pray for an ‘as near normal’ weekend as possible.
36 inches of rainfall, minus a tenth or two, the total rainfall in Elizabethtown, NC over the past week or so. Unreal!!!!
Changing the subject, NFL Browns won their first regular season game in 635 days, nearly 2 years. Final score: Browns 21, Jets 17.
