Much has been spoken and written over the past few days about the late, former President, George H.W. Bush, one of the best equipped chief executives in my lifetime. His longtime bride was also a huge asset. How could you not like Barbara Bush?
Bladen County commissioners have a couple of meetings today, a Special Meeting at 5:30 PM and regular semi-monthly meeting at 6:30 PM. One of the first items on the agenda for the regular session is the election of chair and vice-chair. Sometimes, it is uneventful, but sometimes can get a little ‘testy’.

I remember the process of selecting a Christmas tree as a youngster…Go into the woods and look for a small tree, usually not much debate, just happy to have a tree. In the early years, there were no electric lights, a few big round colorful bulbs, and numerous home made decorations, some colored with crayons…Wonderful memories….Santa had less to deliver, fruit, nuts, maybe a ball or a doll…Always wanted a baseball glove, but apparently he ‘ran out’ before arriving at our house, or he had reason to doubt my letters telling him about my good conduct over the past year.
