Congratulations to Gladwin ‘Bo’ Priest, long time face of the Tar Heel Rescue Squad, He was recently recognized for his contributions by being named a recipient of The Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award, by Governor Roy Cooper. Rep. William Brisson made the presentation. Bo has been a faithful servant to the squad for 42 years…

Saw a quote recently attributed to the IBM CEO, and liked it. “There are 7 million more jobs available than people – but not qualified people.” That is why we have institutions of higher learning such as Bladen Community College. A year or two at BCC can make a world of difference for those who want to do better and are willing to prepare themselves for a better occupation.

Stock market continues to ‘tank’, whatever the reason, will be happy when it returns to business as usual. For many, all gains for the past 12 months have been ‘wiped out’. Unsettling for us senior citizens especially….

Been thinking about Presidents, kinda had it on my mind over the past few days as much attention was on the Bush family and the death of the elder President Bush. Think back over your lifetime….all have been different…go back to Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, Jimmy Carter, JFK, Ronald Reagan, whenever you began to keep up with politics….If you had a son, which president, in your lifetime, would you like them to model themselves after? Trump, Obama, Clinton, Ford, LBJ, Nixon, either Bush???????
