Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

Lest we forget, Christmas is a perfect time to do something nice for someone…..just do it.  Lots of sickness, deaths and other concerns…do it now.

Christmas parties and cantatas are being held.  Cantatas are special, choirs and directors are working hard to prepare. Soon it will be added to the memory bank.

Speaking of cantatas, the Wesley’s Chapel UMC choir will present their 2018 edition Sunday, December 16, at 6 PM, and all are invited.  We are blessed to have so many talented young folks to blend with the more familiar faces, a good director (Wanda) and sound person (Renn).  This year our Cantata is ‘Prince of Heaven’ arranged by Travis Cottrell.

Ever think back to days gone by and remember special programs, and special folks that led the efforts that left a lasting impression….As a youngster dressing as a Wise Man, or a King, appearing before Baby Jesus lying in a manager with Mary and Joseph close by.  Creative folks just making a point…growing up at Zion Hill Baptist Church, about 3 miles north of Bladenboro on NC 410 & 131.

Often remember days long ago when counter checks were everywhere.  Then the system changed.  Well, have you attempted to pay for most anything with a check lately?  Saw a lady at a ‘chain’ grocery store a few weeks ago doing just that and the check-out person had no idea, the manager ’bout had a stroke and the poor customer was embarrassed.  Today, it’s credit card, debit card or cash.  Just the world we live in.

Should be a very nice December day, weatherwise, some clouds and high temps in the upper 50s.  Rain is in the forecast for Friday, 80% chance according to one source.

I appreciate your thoughts and comments on ‘Thoughts”….

NFL football tonight, LA Chargers at Kansas City for a game with the Chiefs.  Remember when Phillip Rivers was quarterback at NC State?  He plays on the west coast, so not as much publicity in this area as some others, but he has had a fantastic career with the Chargers.

Remember, children.  The best way to get a puppy for Christmas is to beg for a baby brother.

How do you know when Santa’s in the room?  You can sense his presents.

Why is Christmas just like a day at the office?  You do all the work and the fat guy with the suit gets all the credit.
