Super Bowl Sunday has arrived.  New England Patriots vs LA Rams in Atlanta.  Kick-off is set for 6:30 p.m. on CBS.

How about the NC State/Virginia Tech basketball game Saturday?  May be the worst game ever for the Wolfpack, coaches, players and fans…

Large news organizations are buying up newspapers, left and right then cutting staff.  McClatchy group, who owns the Raleigh News & Observer, Charlotte Observer, Durham Herald Sun, a total of 29 papers in the U.S., including seven in the Carolinas, have announced 450 staffers have been offered early retirement.

Gannett Corporation is laying off 400, Buzzfeed another 200, some saying they will be more agile, more efficient and more flexible.  Thirty-six percent of the largest US newspapers have had lay-offs since 2017.

Maybe they can give some a job delivering, in 50 years of subscribing to area newspapers, never seen such bad service.

Heard another shocking stat recently, totally different.  About 500 families in Bladen County are out of their homes…still…due to damages from storms in 2018.  David Foster, Bladen County Baptist spokesperson, is asking for volunteers, work teams of 4 or 5 to assist in restoring the local housing.  FEMA will provide the dollars but manpower is needed.  If you can assist, call Rev. Foster at 910-862-3496 or stop by the Bladen Baptist offices on Mercer Mill Road, near CVS in Elizabethtown.

Lots of sickness, pneumonia, bronchitis, and other issues.  Pray for the sick and the caretakers.

Public officials who lie should be banned from office from the courthouse to the White House.  May not be anyone left, same could be said about other areas of work, as well.  Not a new issue….

Ever wonder about who is piloting the jets that make such a beautiful sight under a canopy of blue skies, leaving a trail behind….Too often we hear but can’t see…yesterday was such a beautiful day, could see and hear.

New babies arrive, and we are happy.  Dear saints depart and we are sad.  Today, funeral services for Mrs. Faye Inman will be held, 2 p.m. at Wesley’s Chapel UMC near Elizabethtown.  No doubt there are others, but the closer to home, the harder it is to accept for us all….

The first 5 days after the weekend are the hardest.

I got a call from the police station saying they want to interview me.  I don’t remember applying for a job there.

I hate it when I see some old person and then realize we went to high school together.
