Bladen County Committee of 100 and Bladen Agri-Industrial are hosting ‘Casino Night” at Cape Fear Vineyard and Winery this evening (Saturday). Doors open at 7, game time is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 each. It’s a repeat event. Proceeds go to support economic development in Bladen County. A good time to learn more about the Committee of 100 and economic development efforts in the county. All are invited.

A new State Board of Elections has been appointed, but one of their first actions was to table appointments to the Bladen County Board of Elections until later….following evidentiary hearing scheduled to begin on February 18.

Yesterday’s high temp of 80 degrees must be a new record for the date. According to the National Weather Service, the previous high was 77 degrees, recorded on February 8, 1999. Do not expect a new record today….cold snap will make it difficult for the high to reach 50 degrees, still lots of sunshine with winds in the 13 to 16 mph range and gusts as high as 23 mph. Low tonight…in the 32 degree range.

Hats off to Bladen County Beta Club members who apparently had a great time at the recent statewide meeting in Greensboro.

Lots of neighbors and friends “stuffed up”, looking forward to springtime….

Lest we forget, Valentine’s Day is next Thursday….

February puns….

I decided that becoming a vegetarian was a missed steak.

An electrician claimed that his truck was a volts wagon.

The young man quit dating the telephone operator because he felt disconnected. Besides, she had too many hangups.
