Municipal elections will be held this year.  Filing dates are July 5 – July 19.

New NC State Board of Elections must be receiving a ‘crash course on elections’, as they attempt to deal with 2018 elections issues and prepare for more.  12 months from now, a new election cycle that includes the presidential primary, as well as other national, state and local elections will be held….and they are still dealing with issues from the 2018 elections, while preparing for municipal elections later this year..

Given time, hopefully all will be OK….

My Hester research team that consist of 1, me, looking back, stumbled across remarks by Soviet First Secretary Nikita Khrushchev…in 1959 on a visit to the United States, the Los Angles Mayor Norris Poulson in his address to Khrushchev stated, “We do not agree with your widely quoted phrase “We will bury you.  You shall not bury us and we shall not bury you.  We are happy with our way of life.  We recognize its shortcomings and are always trying to improve.  But if challenged, we shall fight to the death to preserve it.”

Back home in Bladen..our friends in the Kelly area are dealing with tough issues related to dikes that protect the community from flooding issues…..I remember, when the county collected a fee (taxes) for the community to assist in paying for the upkeep.  Many if not all of the older residents who had the most knowledge about the issues are now deceased, making it even more difficult to deal with.

Elizabethtown – White Lake Chamber of Commerce meets today at noontime…

National Weather Service forecast for today (Tuesday)…Mostly cloudy, high near 73, 20% chance of rain.  Light and variable wind becoming south 8 to 13 mph in the morning.  Winds could gust as high as 21 mph.

Rainfall yesterday appears to be in the 1/2 to 3/4 inch range at the weather station at the Curtis Brown Airport.

Saw this recently and agree.  ‘We tend to see what we want to see and hear what we want to hear’.

Maya Angelou quotes:

We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.

I did then what I knew how to do.  Now that I know better, I do better.

You develop courage by doing small things like just as if you wouldn’t want to pick up a 100-pound weight without preparing yourself.
