Should have a couple of days of partly cloudy skies and temps in the lower 60s.. Later in the week, more rain in the forecast.
A good article in yesterday’s Fayetteville paper related to the investigation into the death of Hania Aguilar, the Robeson County teenager killed recently and how the law enforcement community put the pieces together to identify and arrest her suspected killer. Good reading….and from a layman’s view, good work….
The minister where I attend church, (Rev. Darrell Copeland – Wesley’s Chapel UMC) used a stat in a recent sermon that registered with me…and my numbers are rounded off…hopefully ‘near’ correct. There are over 7,000 deaths daily and nearly 11,000 births daily in the U.S. No wonder the population nationwide and across the state continues to increase, but in many rural counties, not much change. Been near 35,000 in Bladen County for several years.
Can you name the 9 current County Commissioners? If yes, give yourself a good grade. Would bet most cannot.
How about 50 years ago? In 1969, there were 5 on the board:
J.S. Singletary of Clarkton
Edd Nye of Elizabethtown
Carl B. Suggs of Bladenboro
F. L. Tatum of White Oak
B. E. (Ballard) Carroll of Dublin
Waiting patiently on a date for the primary date for the race for U.S. Congressman, N.C. District 9. Lots of speculation about who will seek the position…and how much interest from the national party leaders. It is considered a Republican seat, but was close in the recent election.
Interested???, stay tuned, more info should be coming soon.
