Most appear to be from the larger counties…..Union (Monroe) or Mecklenburg (Charlotte) areas to our west.  The Constitution requires that members of the House be at least 25 years old, have been a U.S. citizen for at least seven years, and live in the state they represent (though not necessarily the same district).

A special election to fill the seat will be held on September 19,2019.  A primary election is scheduled for May 14, 2019.  If a primary runoff election is necessary, it will be held September 10, 2019 and the general election will be moved to November 5, 2019.

Other important dates:

Early voting August 22 – September 7

Absentee voting deadline September 3 (request) September 10 (returned)

Same-day registration: Yes

Poll times: 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Additional information should be available at the local Board of Election or NC State Board of Elections, Raleigh, NC.

Candidates and supporters should have their house in order.  This race contest will be the most scrutinized ever with all that has taken place in the previous election.

We will soon bid farewell to winter 2019, spring arrives Thursday, March 20, followed by Easter on April 21, and before we know it, summertime will be here.

What was your absolute best vacation ever and why?  How about the worst vacation ever and why?  Some of our best were short trips when our boys were young, like a trip to the beach.  Simple and fun.

According to a myth, you can balance an egg on its tip on a flat surface only on the first day of Spring!

If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant.  If we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.  Anne Bradstreet

In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.  Margaret Atwood

Spring shows what God can do with a drab and dirty world.  Virgil Kraft
