Ten Republicans, one Democrat, and one candidate each from the Green Party and Libertarian Party are candidates for the NC 9th Congressional seat, currently vacant after the NC State Board of Elections failed to certify the November 2018 General Election, because of alleged irregularities in Bladen and Robeson county.  A primary election contest will be held May 14.  The General Election is set for September 10.  If no candidate gets more than 30 percent of the vote, a runoff election will be held September 10, followed by a general election November 5.  Confused?  So are voters from Mecklenburg to Bladen County….

A hearty salute to Walter Bullard, Elizabethtown businessman.  He was honored recently for his many years as a volunteer in the Boy Scouts.  33 years as a Scoutmaster, working with 21 young men to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.

Sunday is St. Patrick’s Day, lest you forget.

Bladenboro volunteers are back in action, helping one of their own.  A fundraiser is being held from 4-7 p.m. today at the Bladenboro Historical Building for Murray Hester, a local life-long resident who suffers from ALS.  Plates are $7 each and donations are welcomed.

No group of volunteers does it better or more often….

I have said it before and I repeat, despite all the bad news created by a few, there’s no place on earth I’d rather be than Bladen County, NC, where good hearted, caring residents are ready, willing and able to help their own.  And, it ‘s true countywide.  All about volunteers.

How about the UNC-Duke basketball game last night?….74-73, Blue Devils.  First game, Florida State surprised #1 ranked Virginia  winning 69-59.  Tonight in the championship game, #4 Seminoles vs #3 Blue Devils….game time 8:30 p.m.

Much speculation about the ACC conference having the top 3 spots in the upcoming NCAA March Madness tournament….Virginia, Duke and UNC.  The Selection Committee will announces pairings Sunday, 6 to 7 p.m.
