Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love
Read an interesting article recently…a head shaving event in Kinston, actually it is the 8th annual.  It will be held Monday evening, 5-8 p.m.  Last year 130 people took part and more than $23,000 was raised.  All proceeds benefit childhood cancer research. Different strokes for different folks.

Primary date for the Special Election for voters in the 9th NC Congressional District is May 14, about 3 weeks away.  Haven’t heard of a lot of campaigning for the seat, but guess participants are spending time were the votes are, in the metro areas.

In Bladen, voters in District 3 will be voting for County Commissioner and county-wide for a Soil & Water Conservation District Supervisor position.  Not much publicity for either so far.  District 3 candidates in the earlier race were incumbent Russell Priest and former commissioner Wayne Edge.

Big issue in some areas is redistricting.  The US Supreme Court could change all the Congressional districts in North Carolina before the 2020 election.  May include state legislative districts as well.  Gerrymandering is a huge issue across the US, including the Tar Heel State.

As a long-time, now deceased friend would say occasionally….That is of a serious nature…..

Good to see the Town of Bladenboro has received a grant to assist in providing a solution to their sewage capacity issue.  It has been a problem for years and one that needs to be addressed for residents and industry.
The East Bladen Booster Clubs annual reverse-raffle will be held Saturday at the school.  Tickets are $100 per couple, and include a steak dinner and the opportunity to win some cash.  Tickets are available at several locations including Leinwands in Elizabethtown.  Proceeds are helpful, provide support for teachers and students…..
