Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

Had the pleasure of spending a little time cruising portions of Bladen County that I seldom visit recently.  Most fields are prepared for planting.  Farmers are busy…

Expect many would say more rain is needed.

Occasionally, receive funny one liners, enjoy reading and using a few, but tend to shy away from political humor,

I enjoy reading the BladenOnline sports page.  Many former East and West Bladen students doing well at the next level.

And speaking of sports, spring sports, especially Dixie Youth baseball draws a crowd in this area.  And, it’s a pretty good show, even if you don’t have someone special to ‘pull’ for.

Early voting continues in portions of Bladen County.  Checking results, few are participating.  Vote your conscience….Republicans are choosing a candidate to oppose  the lone Democratic candidate in the race for 9th congressional district.  Democrats and Republicans are encouraged to vote for Russell Priest or Wayne Edge in the race for Bladen County District 3 county commissioner and cast a vote for a member of the Soil and Water Conservation Board.

Had a question recently, What does Soil and Water Board members do?…..I Googled and found that “The NC Division of Soil and Water is statutorily connected to NC’s 96 local soil and water conservation districts through NC General Statute 139, and delivers its programs through the comprehensive district infrastructure.”  Interesting info, if you care to know more, Google.  Bet farmers have a good idea of issues that are dealt with by the Board.

Had several questions related to our grand-daughter, Morgan C. Hester.  She is beginning her final year at ECU School of Dentistry.  She will begin rotations in coming weeks, and if all goes as planned, graduate next spring.  Doing great.  We proudly share the  grandparents role with Glenn and Betty Jo Cain of Bladenboro. Parents are Rick and Caroline Hester of Smithfield and a brother and sister-in-law…..Brooks and Katie in the Raleigh area. Thanks for asking!

Success is not the key to happiness.  Happiness is the key to success.  If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.  Herman Cain
