Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

May 1,  WOW, 2019 year is nearly half over.

Remember eons ago when May 1 arrived, we celebrated May Day at school.  I GOOGLED May Day, discovered it was celebrated by some early European settlers of the American continent.  In some parts of the United States, May baskets are made.  These are small baskets usually filled with flowers or treats and left at someone’s doorstep.  The giver rings the bell and runs away.  In the world we live in today that may be dangerous.

One other version I discovered….May Day was an ancient Northern Hemisphere spring festival and a traditional spring holiday in many cultures.  Then there is the distress call….May Day…not related….

For most, just another work day, warmer weather, planting time for farmers, colorful flowers spring forth, what else?

Never a dull moment in Bladen.  May is the month we celebrate the official opening of White Lake for another season.  Kicks off with the Water Festival on May 17, 18 & 19.  The water is just fine, thanks for asking…

Goldston’s Sandwich Shop is open.

Seems most retirements occur the last day of a month….so for April retirees, welcome.  No longer have to crawl out of bed early, no longer punch a clock or report to anyone, except your spouse.  This is the day you have looked forward to for many years…now what????

Even if you are on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.

Talk is cheap because talk exceeds demand.

Politicians and diapers have one thing in common.  They should both be changed regularly and for the same reason.
