I am not a huge contributor to Facebook. Check it out, briefly 2 or 3 times daily, but do wish all on my ‘friends’ list, Happy Birthday. Some days none, some days several. Today, it was several, and enjoy reminiscing about each. How did I meet them, and what did I learn from them? Old friends are the best…..If we (you and I) aren’t friends on one of the social platforms and you are celebrating a birthday today, HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
One of the hardest working, most dedicated high school coaches anywhere, ever, has been named to the Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame…Former Hallsboro & Whiteville High School coach, Linwood Hedgepeth will be inducted Sunday, along with others from the extended Wilmington area. He also coached the Whiteville Legion team for many years. His players included many who played in the big leagues and over 30 who played at the college level. Congratulations, job well done. Love the quote attributed to him…”To be successful you got to get off your butt and get on your feet, get out of the shade and get in the heat. Just do it, work.” Oh yes, his high school teams won 5 state championships.
Latest census estimates by the folks that count us all…US population as of 2018…..327,167,434. North Carolina’s population was 10,383,620, up from 9,535,483. There are only 9 states with 10 million or more. California has the most, 39,557,045. Texas has over 28 million residents and Florida has 21,299,325. Others in the 10 million category….New York, Illinois, Georgia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, in addition to North Carolina. Numbers determine many things, including the number of US House members in Congress.
